Ink on paper,
A3 (29.7 x 42 cm).
2008-2009

Edit 28th October 09
Changed the scan, seeing as the paper's colours did not come through right on the last one, as it had been done in grayscale. The new scan looks completely as the original, right colours, and correct border.

Limited edition prints:
Prints on high quality paper,
same size as original artwork, 29.7 x 42 cm (A3).
Total of 5 signed and numbered prints, of which 4 are still available.

Critiques

Upon the first glance it becomes evident that a great deal of care and attention has gone into the development of such a complex piece as this. The detail throughout is brilliantly structured and allows the viewer to see more than what I’m guessing was originally intended.
The rough quality of the shading provides great depth by creating an effect which is usually found in text books from centuries past. Given the nature of the scenery and how it goes hand in hand with the title and one of its many interpretations, I feel the intention to be well delivered.
I personally see this as a representation of progression and an undying need for achievement, the spiders web would be a key role in this. Every aspect of this piece (though full with a chaotic appearance) provides a peaceful atmosphere with a slight hint of sorrow.
I cannot help but feel overwhelmed when looking at this piece, I observe long enough and its as though it begins to move. Its as though one could reach out and actually take part in the event itself, not an effect easily created I must say.

The difference between an artist and a person that is crazy is that the artist has a two-way ticket and the crazy person only has a one way...

Good work, Ingrid. I do prefer your drawings. For painting, have you tried 'Mische' [link] technique?
Cheers

Haha, I get the feeling that a lot of people do. I really like my drawings as well, because I really like doing them. The thing is I really want to become good at painting too, because I love the medium so much, and I am completely in love with some oil paintings when I see them. I like the mische technique, although I am not too keen on using it myself. There is just something so great about oil paint that makes me want to "tame" it, and try to make it work with me, no matter how much work it is going to take before I get there. I love the challenge of it. To me it is a challenge, at least. I am really glad to hear you like this drawing, my friend. Your opinion means a lot to me. Thank you.

You have no idea how glad I am to hear that, Tassos. The fact that you like it means very much to me. Glad you like the signature on this one. I quite like it myself. As you might have noticed, I have signed it with two years. I don't know if you remember when I showed it to you when I started it last summer, but I did.. and it has taken a whole lot of time before I finally pulled my act together and finished it. I don't even know if I think it is really finished now! Ahh, but I am looking forward to start another ink drawing. It'll be wonderful!

Aww, thank you, Christine! I appreciate it a lot. You have been making quite some lovely work yourself lately, by the way. I enjoy it a lot.
